Independent Dock Engineering Consultation

Get the right dock for your specific shoreline — before you talk to a single manufacturer.

Most lake homeowners have no idea how much rides on getting their dock decision right the first time.

The wrong dock type for your water level fluctuation. The wrong anchoring system for your lake bottom. The wrong load rating for how you actually use the dock. Any one of these mistakes can turn a $30,000 investment into a $30,000 problem.

The Pennevale Docks consultation exists to make sure that doesn't happen to you.

Every week, I publish practical educational videos covering the fundamentals every lake homeowner needs to understand before they buy a dock. Flotation systems. Anchoring options. Water level management. Permit requirements. Load capacity. And much more.

It's completely free, and it's the best starting point for anyone who is new to the dock research process.

THE CONSULTATION — $197

Projects including boat lifts or hybrid dock systems — $600

What's included:

The Questionnaire: Your consultation begins with a detailed questionnaire covering everything relevant to your specific situation. Water body type. Water depth at the dock location. Seasonal water level fluctuation. Wind exposure and fetch. Lake bottom conditions. Primary intended use. Largest watercraft, if applicable.

This isn't a generic form. Every question is there because the answer directly affects what dock system is right for your shoreline.

Engineering Review Once your questionnaire is submitted PJ reviews your answers thoroughly and conducts an independent engineering analysis of your specific situation. If additional information is needed, PJ will reach out directly — usually by phone — to make sure nothing important is missed.

Your Written Recommendation: You receive a complete written recommendation that covers:

  • The dock type best suited to your specific shoreline and conditions
  • The anchoring system that matches your lake bottom and water depth
  • Special considerations for your climate, water level behavior, and intended use
  • The manufacturers best suited for your project, with the reasoning behind each recommendation

This document is yours. You own it. You can take it to any manufacturer, share it with your contractor, or use it as the basis for your permit application.

Manufacturer Introductions Here's what most people don't expect.

PJ contacts the recommended manufacturers on your behalf — introducing you as a potential customer with a clear, engineered specification. You walk into those conversations already positioned as an informed buyer who knows exactly what they need.

No more starting from scratch with every manufacturer you contact. No more getting sold whatever they happen to have in stock.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The Pennevale Docks consultation is for lake homeowners who:

  • Are planning to install a new dock and want to get it right the first time
  • Are replacing an existing dock that failed or didn't perform as expected
  • Have a lake property with unique or challenging conditions — significant water level fluctuation, rough water exposure, shallow shoreline, or complex permitting environment
  • Want independent engineering guidance before committing to a significant purchase

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

If you already have a dock that's working perfectly and you're happy with it, you probably don't need this.

If you're on a calm, protected shoreline with stable water levels and straightforward conditions, a basic consultation may be more than you need. Start with the free resources and reach out if questions come up.

THE INVESTMENT IN PERSPECTIVE

A Pennevale Docks consultation costs $197.

The average dock installation runs $15,000 to $50,000 or more.

Getting it wrong — buying a dock that fails, choosing the wrong system for your water conditions, or installing without proper permit guidance — can cost you the entire investment plus the cost of removal and replacement.

Independent engineering guidance for $300 is not an expense. It's insurance on a very significant purchase.

READY TO GET STARTED?
